WANT TO HEAR  MORE?

I am many things. I am 22,  a daughter, a sister, a step-mom, a fiancee, a writer, a videographer, a social media juggler and a graduate of San Francisco State University. I know a little about a lot of things, but everything about nothing. Perhaps one of the most important things that I am  is a journalist. To be a journalist was my dream in my childhood, my passion through college, and now my reality. The people and subjects I write about are my inspiration and reasons for everything I do, so thank you.

About

To date I have written almost 20 articles for the San Francisco Chronicle. I had three consecutive internships for Datebook and worked under the guidance of David Lewis. I wrote a variety of articles including a magazine piece, profiles, a Q&A, Season of Sharing features. I was able to pitch and complete my own stories as well. A favorite was a profile for the San Francisco Chronicle Magazine, in January, 2013 edition. The culmination of my experience there was my first A1 piece published Christmas day, 2012.

During my time at the university I was very active, writing for the school magazine and participating in conversations about tuition hikes and student loans. I wrote for the “Student Voices” campaign, a project that allowed students to voice their personal stories and frustration over the increasing tuition rates. With three other students, we Joined Sen. Leland Yee, D-S.F., and other state representatives to meet with SFSU President Robert Corrigan to discuss tuition hikes. One of the most exiting moments was when I was the only student chosen to speek at a press conference with U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer, D-CA, addressing the issue of interest rates on student loans in spring 2012. On May 25th, I graduated with honors from San Francisco State University obtaining a bachelors degree in journalism and minoring in anthropology.
